New Music, New Songs

It will surely mean busy weekends to come.

My order of new music sheets just arrived in the mail. I went to the post office to pick it up, initially hesitant that I might get taxed Great Book Blockade style. Happily, I only paid the standard handling fee (that’s PhP 35, regardless of the size of the package) and left the package claims desk immediately.

In my excitement, I went to one of the writing areas in the middle of the post office and immediately opened the package. The smell of fresh paper greeted me as soon as I ripped the large envelop open, and there I found an octavo of an offertory, a set of six octavos for a hymn and a small collection of anthems. (And the best thing is, I got originals, not “pirated” copies. And, no, I will not share these songs to other choirs. Manigas kayo, bahala kayong bumili ng sarili ninyong pyesa :P )

I still couldn’t resist reading the pieces when I got back in the office (I came just well within the grace period, so I was still technically doing it during my free time). It’s Tuesday, choir service (and possible rehearsal) is on Saturday, and now I feel the urge to teach at least one or two of the songs to my singers. But it’s still Tuesday. Choir will have to wait.

And this only means, busy days are here again (dum dee dum…) :P

Speaking of…two copies of Be Thou My Vision are already reserved for each of my two choirs. I’m planning to give one copy to one of my former choirmasters in the parish. But I have three more extra copies. Any takers? Before I change my mind, that is :P

Hehehe…sabi ko na nga ba, di ka makatiis. You heard of this song ba before? You can give it a listen here:

The choir’s conductor, btw, is Mark Carpio, the choirmaster of the Phil. Madrigal Singers. Meron din ako sa bahay ng high-quality MP3, I can share it with you so that you can give it a listen.
