Off to the Movies ;-)

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince (from Wikipedia)

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince (from Wikipedia)

I’m off to the movies tonight! I got myself free tickets to a special screening of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (a.k.a. Harry Potter 6, if you prefer the numbers). This will be a fundraiser, so I’m assured that proceeds from the tickets go to a worthy cause.

I hope I could get to complete a review by tomorrow. I can’t say if I’ll avoid spoilers because, by this time, some viewers should have re-read the entire book to prepare themselves for the movie. (At least, I know a good number who did.)

Half-Blood Prince is one of the best books in the entire series. This proves to be a disadvantage, because any reservations or comments I may have about the movie may be tinged with a bias for faithfulness to the text. I’ll try to avoid these biases for the sake of those who haven’t had the chance or the time to read through the entire Harry Potter series.

Tell me if it’s good! I have a bias towards the book.

I have this “thing” about books made into movies.

Most of the time, it lacks the “Ommph” factor found in the book.

Well…just to give you a hint, it’s good in some parts, and needs improvement in others. But I guess, like what you’re hinting at, that’s the perils of adopting a novel into a movie.

Check out Rupert Grint, he has really good scenes there ;)

Your right! Rupert Grint was super funny when he ate those spiked chocolates. Teehee.

Some parts were sort of dragging. And none of the eye popping effects. Maybe they were trying to develop the characters more in prep for the two-part Book 7 movie.

Btw, Draco Malfoy was also good in my opinion.

Teehee. I sure wouldn’t want to be in Professor Slughorn ‘s shoes…after all, I would have been the one responsible for giving the girls the idea of a love potion :P

Tom Felton, IMO, is one of the underrated young actors in HP. He has the most experience among the actors and actresses who played the students (and a very good one, too). I was thinking that come HP7 parts 1 and 2, he’ll get more screentime. Especially near the end of the story.
