Tayong Dalawa and Hollywood Names

I don’t know if I’m the only person who has noticed this.

While watching Tayong Dalawa, I realized that one of its writers might have been a fan of classic 1950s/1960s movies.

The evidence? Interestingly, all the leading female characters were apparently named after famous Hollywood actresses:

  1. Actress: Kim Chiu
    Character name: Audrey
    Named after: Audrey Hepburn
  2. Actress: Helen Gamboa
    Character name: Elizabeth/Mamita
    Named after: Elizabeth Taylor
  3. Actress: Agot Isidro
    Character name: Ingrid
    Named after: Ingrid Bergman
  4. Actress: Cherry Pie Picache
    Character name: Marlene
    Named after: Marlene Dietrich
  5. Actress: Gina Pareno
    Character name: Lola Gets/Rita
    Named after: Rita Moreno
  6. Assunta de Rossi
    Character name: Greta
    Named after: Greta Garbo

This reminds me of Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay, where all the leading male characters were given Russian names.

Anyone knows if there’s another telenovela (other than these two) with similar naming schemes?

Hahaha…not really. This one was a scheduled post (apparently a new feature of Wordpress), I’d only write this in bits and then assign a future date :P

In a previous telenovela, all the characters’ names were of the high school classmates of one writer… This writer is the link to your observations.

I didn’t know that :) I better start researching who wrote all these three telenovelas, that’s the best way of identifying our, uh, “suspect” ;)
